The toy "Da Bird"

Postby nbrown628 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:27 am

Hi

I have a 12 week old baby girl. I wanted to know if this is normal. I have TONS of toys for her. All she wants to play with is "da bird"???? Even if I am not flicking the thing around she wants to drag it everywhere (stick and all..lol). IS this normal? Do they like this because of their "wildness"???

Thanks

theres something really special about thoes DaBirds !! they just drive bengals mad,lol

we put ours into a special room and bring them out to play, whenever that door opens they all arrive in seconds hoping Da Birds will come out to play !!

Peepers does this too --He goes absolutely nuts with Da Bird, and also with the fur attachment (although he's a little leery about that furry creature thing hitting his feet...... ;o) It could partly be because of their genetics, but I think that most cats of any breed would be crazy about them because it's the cat's natural instinct to react to 'feathers and fur' and any thing or little creature that moves fast or flies. They also react to the 'flying sound' the feathers make. They are naturally drawn to fast little things that scurry or fly by...... has your little girl found 'da bugs' yet....?!!!?? Any bug will do (as long as it's not poisonous, etc...) Bugs are a favorite prey around here..... especially moths!!

Be sure to put it away behind a closed door when you're not playing with it with her -- it's possible they could get caught up in the cord if not supervised. Also, since they don't really watch where they're leaping when they play with it, be sure to not fly it too close to stationary objects, etc, so she doesn't injure herself. Been there done that. eek
It's a normal reaction...... she'll have a lot of fun with it!!!

Léopold is going crazy too about Da Bird!
And it became an (unvoluntary) educational device over here. Oh yes, Léopold is now able:
- to jump on top of a big dresser from the floor (first place to hide the toy)
- to open cupboard doors (second hide)
- to catch it on top of the refrigerator from the ground if a little bit of feather shows (my bf having fun at seeing how high he can jump )
- and who knows what next! caticon
It's now in a top shelf of the TV storage system (I have no idea how its called in english) and everytime we get near this "special" shelf he's right next to us wanting to play!

The feathers don't last too long, but when they don't fly so well I change them, and he plays with the old one (even if it's not on the string and flying). It's so funny. He will hide and jump on the feathers as if they were a prey!

I confirm that other cats go crazy about it too! I bought one for my friend, and his two domestics cats are now losing weight playing with Da Bird ;-)

My Bengals love them so much I leaned to make my own attachments. They last much longer too for some reason. Yippee Skippy

Me too--out of necessity one night-- but I only replace the feathers in the same red cap with my own when the originals break. Have you figured out what the red cap is and where to get those?

Cool-- I know the "hardware" is some fishing stuff--my dad thinks the caps might be some of that tool-coating dip stuff--but i am not real sure about that. One of my original refills has broken hardware that I can't fix.
