oh runny poo's, so not fun!! yoshi went through two rounds of mendozole or whatever thats called
for giardia, the first round was pills and it was quite a fight.

next time went to the compounding pharmacy and got it into the flavored liquid... soooo much better
that way if anyone has to give the mendozole.

the pharmicist asked me if ive evver tasted the mendozole, thats not how ya spell t but ya know the one,lol

he said he had tried it and its worse than battery acid in youre mouth,he said he rinsed and rinsed and brushed and took a towel and
rubbed his tougne off,lol he says its the nastiest there is !! no wonder yoshi hated the pill !!

Thanks guys, I almost hope that the test comes back showing something so that we know what it is and can treat it. But the vet was talking about food intolerances and other stuff grrr! All I can do is wait, but it is weird as it seems to come and go, one minute he's as ok as possible for him and only going twice a day, and then it's like complete runs 10 times a day :-(
he's a trooper though, he obviously doesn't want me to worry too much so he makes sure he climbs the curtains and causes general mayhem at least a few times a day so that I know he still feels good!!

Yuck that Mendozole stuff sounds awful, battery acid flavour eeeww! The one lucky thing is that Ru is extremely easy to pill, it goes... walk up to him, open his mouth, he meows, put pill in, shut mouth, he swallows. Good boy caress But I think even he would object to battery acid flavour pills somehow.

The weird thing is that Java is absolutely fine. But we went through a dodgy belly kitten stage with her too, it's only in the past 4 months or so that she's suddenly gone perfect (she's now 1 year 3 months old). She was fine by the time we bought Ru home, but maybe she is still carrying something (we never tested her or anything as it was never THAT bad, like only once a day, just soft) that she's passed on to Ru? And he shows the symptoms but Java copes with them fine? Hmmm... oh I don't know!

Well--I can't remember if I mentioned in this thread--both of my boys had runny poo within a couple of days of moving here. Marley did have giardia and we treated with Metronidazole (battery acid? YUCK! Thank goodness I didn't think to try it) and Panacur. But--it did take about a month after he was here for him to have firmer poo. A few months later, Sergei came to live with us and he came down with runny poo-- we treated him with Albon & Panacur (different vet) even though no parasites were seen. For him--also a month before the poo firmed up. Honestly--I think most of the runny poo problem had to do with the move here and the change in foods. What helped my boys the most seemed to be canned pumpkin--although I bet Renee's suggestion of Benefiber would have been easier to feed to them (and I am keeping that in mind in case any of this happens again). Occasionally--Sergei will have a bit of soft poo--I think because he tries a different food or is more active or the wind blows in a different direction--and then I feed him a bit of boiled chopped up chicken and that seems to help him. Beef seems to upset Sergei a bit-- but now that he is used to that--he is fine most of the time. BTW--I panic a bit whenever I see any bit of blood in their poo--but my boys' breeder told me that is sometimes normal for bengals-- so I pay extra attention to make sure there isn't more the next time.

Hotjavalava-- what a lucky bum! Ru takes pills that well?! Lucky!!! And I know what you mean about the tests coming back indicating something--knowing would be all the better. Good luck and get better Ru!

I was the same way - hoping for a positive test result. Ours have TF - we successfully treated three of them, but Lynkin is resistent to RDZ treatment and we couldn't cure him. So, he reinfected the others. He's the only one who still has consistently runny poo. At least he's always making it to the litter box now. 97% of all cases become asymptomatic by age 2, so we're hoping that will be the case with him. 9 months to go! I guess I'm not holding my breath - 97% of cats are supposed to be cured by RDZ too.

I gotta agree with that one, we've had both of them with runny bum... soft serve poop within a day or so of having them as well. Our breeder told us that its expected really for the first month or so since bengal's are really sensitive to environmental changes, so moving to a new home, definite reason for runny bum. We were given clavamox for that, and it firmed them up; but its been almost a month and Suki is pretty firm now, while Michi is in between her piles of soft serve and long soft poop... though if its firm its hard to tell with Michi.. she has this thing about stepping on it after shes buried them a bit.. *sigh*.. poopy bums and poopy paws... I panicked too when i saw some blood in michi's stool, but it was bright red, so i just totally watch her...

More Poo!!!

Seriously, I don't know if I should be hyper concerned, but the last two days, one incident each, Suki and Michi came out of going poop with their little poo holes covered in blood, it was fairly bright, mixed with poo but it looked like someone tossed a little tomato at their behinds! I know there can be blood due to straining, I have to drop off a stool sample tomorrow, so hopefully i'll get some answers or at least some clarification with it.

Oooo Good luck with that. I hope everything is okay. Sergei still occasionally has some runny poo--I think he convinces a human to let him sample a bit of the human food-- or I have seen him do it after drinking too much water (like after a walk in the rain and his fur is soaked and he "dries" it himself).

Hi Julie! flowericon

Sorry for the delay - the girls are clear for parasites and evil worms! I am thinking that since Michi's been on quite a bit of antibiotics in her young life, the runny poo could be because of that as well. Going to take the advice of putting her on a 'pro-biotic' for a week and see if it counters her soft serve and help her belly. Any suggestions as to the type/brand of pro-biotics? - i will post more pics asap on my other thread.. its been a busy week! and I am still hunting down a coffee!! arrrghhhh...

purina forti flora is what we use.. and the best thing is they love it !!

its a powder form and sprinkle it on the food. i usually put a bit on the food and sprinkle the rest right next to it..
they lap up just the powder first they love love it which makes it really easy !!
i got mine from the vet but you can order it on amazon too.

ARRRGH i never wanted to have to post here but thanks to Indigo i'm here. Here is his story. We fell in love with his brother but i loved his blue eyes so we could not choose until meeting them. So in place of a Cat show we made a 7 1/2 drive(one way) to get our new baby. Ohh keep in mind i had hopes of avoiding the new kitten dramas that i had with my previous 2 as they were shipped. Well got there and learned that we now didn't have a choice and kitten #3 was it. I was surprised by my unexpected reaction of being mad that i didn't get to choose. So Sunday morn we go to pick him up and fell in love with those blue eyes and the sweetest personality(he's a cuddler my other aren't) and looking back now can say he's a better fit than the brother we thought we wanted. Well we sat there for a long time asking question and she was upfront as our kitten was sneezing but still very playful. She also said he had firm poo up until this morning. My hard rule is not to take a sick cat. This rule was broken with the agreement that before hitting home we'd stop at the Emerg. vet for antibotic for what i and the breeder thought was a simple upper resp. infection. Drive home was interesting lets just say thank god i brought pet wipes and still had to find petsmart to get more. Wow maybe i should have pay more attention to my dream as the night before we left i saw myself at a gas station bathing a kitten in a bucket. So short story new kitten is not going to be drama free really we batted 3 for 3. Ist week home antibotics and no change now to see our vet. New antibotic and nose drops another week no change back to the Vet. More new antibotic some improvement but not enough he wants to see if he kick it and give pregnisone for 4 days over the holiday weekend. This didn't happen so came back(yesterday) and told to bring pooh as he thinks diarrhea may not be related to cold. Now we have the strongest antibotic for the cold and another week. Now during this i order Fortiflora(on it's way) but have been tring eagle pack holistic with mixed results so needed to find pumpkin. Dean went to 2 store no pumpkin and thought that was wierd. We did a search and found out why bad season created shortages won't start producing more until August. So if you find some buy it . Well our vet just called and he has Giardia on top of the cold i'm choosing to take this as good news it just means it will be a lot longer before he meets his brother & sister look like he going to be isolated for another month. head banger . Before you go thinking how horriable due to renovations we are sleeping in a side bedroom so he has the master with boxes for climbing and the small bathroom was made into a kitty room with lots of toys and i sleep back there with him often. This has been very tring for me as i'm also doing renovations myself and with Indy being sick this has come to a halt(kitchen down). On the good side chest is clear, gaining weight and looks to be crazier than our previous ones. He likes to chew things toys, toes and drywall . The last too are not acceptable nono I will let all know how he is doing and post pic soon of him on the new bengal board
