now im stressing about window treatments - does anyone have the honeycomb/cellular type or is he going to destroy them? Is my best bet just basic mini blinds and maybe wood?

I think this weekend Ill bring him up again and by the following weekend we will be living there!
Jen, you REALLY should look into the Hunter Douglas Everwood blinds. They aren't wood per se (they are some sort of new composite). However, they look just like wood, and you can get the 2" (or was it 2.5" slat) blinds that look like Shutters. The best part is that they are very heavy (if you get the 2-2.5" ones) and the cats really cannot do ANYTHING to them. I did my whole rowhome except for the kitchen for like $1,200-1,300. If you are a member of Costco (or someone in your family is), get them there. That's what I did. It was a "gift" from my parents. In reality they are members and I just cut them a check so I in essence used their memebership.
I totally second Renee's "wood blind" recommendation. However, in this case, you don't actually need to spend the $$ on wood (I know things are tight when you move into a new house). In fact, my Mom's friend who also carries Hunter Douglas said to my mom on the side that there were some very hard feelings internally at Hunter Douglas when the Everwood came out a few years ago. The people in the wood blind division felt they were betrayed and out of jobs...
I would say for a whole house, you might be looking at 2 to 2.5K measured & installed (at least at the prices from costco 2 yrs ago). Also, don't let the Costco thing fool you. All they do is contract out a local designer who is a Hunter Douglas dealer.
