Approx. 4 weeks ago out of the blue during a regular monthly checkup her blood work came back with
noticably worse numbers than the month before. We started her on Sub- Q fluids twice a day and another
appitite stimulant to help coax her to eat. I spent/wasted nearly $100 in various foods including raw that
she would only nibble maybe a tea spoon ful and leave the rest. She has been steadily loosng weight, and
using the litter box excessively. She would only drink ice water and then just sparingly. The last 4 weeks she
had been up from 10 pm to 4 am crying and I did everything I could to make her feel better. She went from 12 pounds
down to 7, you could see her spine and penvis when she would sit on all fours close to the foor.
I lost the renal failure battle today at 8 am when she passed to the Rainbow Bridge in my arms.
She and her littermate/twin brother just turned 6 on April 16th.
Side note: moments after she passed, her brother Pumbaa colapsed. He acted like he was going to vomit,
and then just fell over on his side breathing very shallow and when I checked his eyes the 3rd eye lid was
partly over both eyes. He seem to have trouble breathing, So I gently picked him up and patted his side and tummy
to try to dislodge anything and nothing happened. He just laid back down. I laid on the floor with Pumbaa petting him,
trying to decide if I should rush him to the animal ER.
He pulled him self up and wabbled over to the carrier where they would sleep together and he cralwed in and laid down.
After 10 minutes he responded again to petting and began purring and was breathing normal again.
Is it possible he reacted his his sister's passing? They have never been seperated and every time I left with Nala to the vet
I always returned with her.
When I went to the breeder's house, she had 14 kittens running around doing their own thing.
A group of 6 or 7 went running past and 1 stopped dead in her tracks and came over and gave me a claw foot message.
She stood on my foot with her from feet and looked up and meowed. I looked down and said hello and asked if she
wanted to come home. She climbed my foot and hugged my leg and meowed again. "yes"
Thats how Nala choose me.
Oh, my poor baby girl, I'm so sorry I couldn't save you! I tried so hard. Foregive me. :'(
